Allan Atlas is on the faculty of the Ph.D. Program in Music at The Graduate Center of The City University of New York. In addition to his work on Puccini, he has focused his research on such wide-ranging topics as music in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, Pergolesi, music in Victorian England--especially as this is related to the instrument called the English concertina--and, most recently, the music of Ralph Vaughan Williams (who, we might note, altered the orchestration of his Ninth Symphony--he added a gong--after hearing a performance of Turandot).”
